The Couldn’t Be Happiers share their ‘Baggage’ with WHUPFM listeners

What happens when a tattooed Texas troubadour blends melodies and shares harmonies with a sassy blonde country crooner from North Carolina? You get the Couldn’t Be Happiers,  a Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based duo that formed in July 2017.

Jordan Crosby Lee (vocals, guitar) is a native Texan, who first picked up a few chords before heading to Wake Forest University.

“Never having had lessons and never being good at paying attention, playing other people’s songs was too much work, so I started writing my own,” the singer-songwriter wrote in his bio on the duo’s website. “Over the past 15 or so years I have played Americana, folk, bluegrass and country music in wine bars, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and clubs all around Central and South Texas and Western Carolina. I even wound up learning a few (a lot of) covers along the way.”

Jodi Hildebran (vocals, guitar, harmonica, percussion) is a singer/songwriter whose love of pop and Americana music permeates her writing.  She grew up in a small town in the foothills of North Carolina where she started her music career at the tender age of five years old.  She also plays with an all-girl group called “The Gingersnaps” and a multi-generational string band called “The Unbroken Circle.”

In fact, it was “The Unbroken Circle” that first brought the duo together musically when they met in 2013.

The Couldn’t Be Happiers recently performed their newest single, “Baggage,” on an episode of WHUPFM’s Pass the Hat that spotlights local artists with a special focus on live music – live in-studio, live from area venues and special events, and in rebroadcasts of recorded live music at its studios in downtown Hillsborough, North Carolina.
