Brevard Music Center’s Summer Music Festival
Each year at Brevard Music Center, the educational music institution hosts a festival that showcases its talented students, staff, guest artists and artistic vision. This summer, though, its 81st season will be remembered as being especially unique according to the website. Highlights include a June 27 performance with Ricky Skaggs backed by the orchestra, a performance of the opera “Don Pasquale” on June 29 and July 1, the Pendergrast Family Patriotic Pops extravaganza on July 4, a special showing of the movie “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” with soundtrack by the live orchestra on July 8 and Lyle Lovett and His Large Band on Aug. 18. The festival kicks off on June 2 and 3 with the Brevard Blues Festival and continues each week with music of varying genres. The 68 performances from June through August range from free to $70 (but most are within the $15-30 range).
