Blues fans, listen up: The 31st annual Carolina Blues Festival is set for 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Barber Park Amphitheater, 1500 Dans Road, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
A 10-pack of general admissions tickets are a bargain at $38.
Organizers say the event is the longest-running blues festival in the Southeastern United States. It is also the annual fundraising event for the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society, which has presented the festival in association with YES! Weekly since 2008.
The website says, “We have international, national, regional and local blues acts on the docket for a day of blues, rain or shine! The Carolina Blues Festival is a family friendly event where you’ll enjoy more food trucks, arts and craft vendors, terrific music and much more.
“From our love of music and our belief that music is best shared in a community, came the founding of the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society in 1985. Our non-profit organization works to cultivate and preserve the tradition of blues music. Our mission is to help the youth of our community discover the wonder and joy of music by raising awareness and providing music education to our community and schools. We strive to bring quality blues events, including our Annual Carolina Blues Festival, (now in it’s 30th year!) concerts, competitions, workshops, and educational programs to the Triad. We collaborate with other non-profits in support of health-related issues, educational initiatives, and societal concerns. Our focus is to promote local businesses, the arts, education, tourism and to make Guilford County a great place to live.”
