If you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate this Halloween weekend, make plans to attend the “Halloween Throwdown” featuring the People’s Blues of Richmond with Atlas Road Crew beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Rives Theatre in uptown Martinsville, Virginia. Doors open at 8, according to organizers.
Tickets are $10 advance and $15 at the door. Season passes to The Rives are accepted for this event.
According to The Rives website, “Peoples Blues of Richmond brings a carnival-like mayhem to their dark, blues-infused psychedelia. The power trio’s new album. ‘Quit or Die,’ is their third studio release. It was recorded in Richmond, Virginia, at The Ward Recording Studio with Ricky Olson. Within the past 24 months the trio has signed with Madison House Booking, toured full time, put out a full-length album released on June 10 and recorded a 7-inch LP produced & engineered by the highly sought-after Mark Neill, the man behind The Black Keys platinum-selling, Grammy-winning ‘Brothers’ record.”
The website continues, “Atlas Road Crew is South Carolina rock ‘n’ roll shot with southern soul accents. Formed in fall of 2011, Atlas Road Crew is rapidly building one of the most loyal fan bases on the East Coast, packing venues to capacity from South Carolina to New York City, and expanding quickly to major U.S. cities in between. The overwhelming positive response to the band’s latest recorded effort, ‘Halfway to Hopkins,’ produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Rick Beato, has this young band quickly becoming the South East’s must see live act of 2016.”
