The Blue Ridge Music Center in Galax, Virginia, celebrates and preserves a long history of Blue Ridge Mountain Music that was brought over to America from Europe and West Africa.
The legacy continues with Bailey Blues & Bluegrass, a free music festival brought to you by Wake Forest Innovation Quarter in partnership with the Blue Ridge Music Center. The festival makes it fall 2016 debut at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at Bailey Park in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Festival headliner and 2015 Grammy-award winner Mike Farris will make a stop on his “Soul of America Tour” at Bailey Park. Nationally recognized for his “spirited, soul-gospel fusion,” Mike Farris & the Roseland Rhythm Revue will rock this free all-ages event. If you caught Farris’ rousing performance at MerleFest in April, you know you won’t want to miss this show.
Local favorite Roy Roberts & The Quest Blues Band promises to bring “every shade of blues” to their opening act, according to the Facebook page.
Food trucks will be on-site, along with beer, wine and a specialty cocktail provided by Single Brothers available for purchase.
Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash. No glass bottles or outside alcohol will be allowed in Bailey Park. Street and parking garages available within walking distance to venue.
