I first discovered The Genuine, a Winston-Salem-based progressive, folk rock group, thanks to Phuzz Phest a few years ago.
And I can tell you that the band doesn’t stray far from its name. Their sound is genuinely unique and I am not alone in my thinking. In fact, The Genuine were recently voted “Best Band”in Smitty’s Notes 10th Annual Best of Winston-Salem Awards. Fans are in for a treat on Friday, Aug. 26, when they can catch the Genuine band members — Matthew Allivato, Katelyn Allivato and Devin Forkel — perform at Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale, North Carolina, as part of its Friday Flavors Concert Series.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here or call the winery on the day of the show at 1-336-644-9908.
The gates/doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show running from 7-9, according to winery owner/operator Natalie Wurz.
“We are excited to be bringing this talent to Stonefield Cellars Winery for the first time,” she writes in the winery’s monthly e-mail newsletter. “We hope to see you at this last of our summer concerts!”
Concert info from the winery
INSIDE OR OUT? Concerts will be held OUTSIDE in fair weather in our lovely garden. If there is chance of rain or extreme heat, the concert will be held INSIDE, in our air-conditioned Barrel Room. We make the call early afternoon the day of the concert and will likely update the website to reflect our decision.
DO I NEED TO BRING A CHAIR? We do have picnic tables and some bistro table seating available on a first-come-first-sit basis unless you call us ahead and request that we save a table for you and your friends (purchase of tickets necessary at time of table reservation). Feel free to bring your festival chairs or a blanket – there is plenty of room for everyone if outside! If the concert is held inside seating is limited (you don’t need to bring a chair if inside) – see below regarding advance ticket purchase recommendation.
DRINKS: Wine, Fresh Sangria, Beer, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. NO outside alcohol is permitted to be brought onto the property as per ABC Law.
FOOD: We bring in a food vendor for each concert. Whether a food truck or restaurant that caters, it will always be delicious food and something for everyone (vegetarian options available). Please do not bring outside food – support our food vendors! See each concert listing for specific vendor.
EVENT POLICIES: No Pets, and No Smoking – Smoking is restricted to inside your vehicle (for the health and comfort of others, and because we have no butt receptacles – please don’t litter our property – dispose of your butts in your car). Concert tickets are non-refundable.
