If you are looking for some free entertainment, carnival rides and a spectacular fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day 2016, look no further than the Martinsville (Virginia) Speedway, just north of the North Carolina state line.

The following announcement is from the good folks at Martinsville Speedway:

For more than 60 years Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers have entertained crowds of all-ages. On July 4, they will bring the show to Martinsville Speedway, as the headline band for Celebration 2016.

The Rogues will be the night’s musical opener. Celebration 2016 is free and open to the public.

Best known for their hits “All the Gold in California,” “Houston (Means One Day Closer To You)” and “Broken Lady,” Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers have played the Grand Ole Opry, the World’s Fair and The White House.

“I’m excited to have The Gatlin Brothers as a part of Celebration,” Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said. “We’re celebrating America and it doesn’t get much more American than The Gatlin Brothers.”

The show will be the first time the trio has performed at the speedway.

“The Gatlin Brothers…Larry, Steve and Rudy, sure are looking forward to performing at Celebration 2016 at the Martinsville Speedway on July 4th,” Rudy Gatlin said. “We would like to thank those brave men and women who have served, and those now serving in our military to ensure our Freedom. We honor you. Thanks for making this day possible. God bless you and God bless America!”

The music begins at 6:30 p.m., with The Gatlin Brothers taking the stage around 8:30 p.m.  Celebration 2016 kicks off at 3 p.m. when the carnival rides open. The night will culminate with the fireworks display at the conclusion of The Gatlin Brothers concert.

Celebration 2016 marks the 18th year Martinsville Speedway has hosted the event.

Fundraising for this year’s event is at about 75 percent of the goal, and sponsors are still needed to make the event a success.
