According to our friends at Reynolda House Museum of American Art, it’s not officially summer until you’ve toasted with friends in Reynolda’s Winston-Salem, North Carolina, back yard. Bring a blanket and enjoy food trucks, drinks from local vendors, lawn games, excellent music and an after-hours opportunity to visit “Ansel Adams: Eloquent Light” beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 9.
This year’s social will feature a live performance by Zoe & Cloyd, an Asheville-based duo steeped in Appalachian bluegrass and old-time traditions. Their new album was named one of the “Outstanding Duo Albums of 2015” by No Depression magazine and they were a big hit at SECCA earlier in the year when they performed as part of the “MerleFest on the Road” tour. Zoe & Cloyd is the husband and wife duo of Natalya Zoe Weinstein and John Cloyd Miller performing on fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar.
Cost is $15 for non-members; $10 for Members of the Museum and students. Free for RAH (Reynolda After Hours) passholders and children under 5.
This annual event typically sells out. Advance purchase is recommended.
Tips for a great Summertime Social experience:
– Bring a blanket rather than a lawn chair.
– Stop by the ATM on the way to the event (bar is cash only)
– Strollers are welcome!
– No dogs, please.
