The Jeff Austin Band and Tab Benoit will headline Rooster Walk 8 Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-29, 2016, at Pop’s Farm in Axton, Virginia, just outside Martinsville, organizers announced today.

Other acts include Yarn, Major & the Monbacks, After Jack, Lizzy Ross, Sanctum Sully (Electric Reunion) and Left Hip Pocket. More headliners and other acts will be announced Jan. 1, said Johnny Buck, co-founder and executive director of Rooster Walk.

Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival will feature more than 40 bands of varying genres, plus arts programs, children’s activities, food, Virginia craft beer and wine, on-site camping, disc golf, a Tuff Strutter 5K and more, Buck added.

Rooster Walk Inc. is a 501c3 community nonprofit dedicated to promoting music, arts and education in Martinsville-Henry County. A portion of proceeds from the festival are donated to the Penn-Shank Memorial Endowment Scholarship Fund for Martinsville High School seniors, as well as the Band Instrument Donation & Repair Program for entry-level band programs in Martinsville and Henry County public schools. Early bird tickets are now on sale. Some of the early-bird ticket options are limited in quantity and will be sold while supplies last. Other ticket types will increase in price on Jan. 1, 2016. The direct link to purchase tickets online is here.

The festival was founded in memory of two late Martinsville natives, Edwin “the Rooster” Penn and Walker Shank, both of whom passed away while in their mid-20s.
