The Grammy-winning bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers has been added to the Rooster Walk 7 lineup for the May 21-24, 2015, festival on Pop’s Farm in Axton, Va.
Among the newly announced acts are jamband favorites The Mantras, plus returning artist Jon Stickley Trio and first-time Rooster Walk performers Mipso, Annabelle’s Curse and the Southern Belles. SCR is scheduled to perform Saturday night, while The Mantras have been added to Thursday night’s lineup.
The event will also feature already announced Yarn (Saturday and Sunday), Southern Culture on the Skids (Thursday), the Kings of Belmont, After Jack, Major & the Monbacks and Lizzy Ross.
“We feel like Rooster Walk has gotten better each and every year, and Rooster Walk 7 will be no exception,” says Johnny Buck, Rooster Walk executive director.
Rooster Walk tickets are currently available online here. Want more information about the festival and the lineup? Visit www.roosterwalk.com. Rooster Walk debuted in 2009 when some 600 people gathered in a field north of Martinsville, Va., to listen to some live music by a few local bands over Memorial Day weekend to commemorate the lives of two lost friends. In 2014, Rooster Walk 6 drew more than 5,000 music lovers to hear 35 performers on three different stages. The festival has grown so much that it made Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine’s list of top 10 summer fests, which includes FloydFest, Bonaroo and Bristol Rhythm and Roots, for readers in their area that reaches from Maryland to Georgia.
The family-friendly Rooster Walk, which features on-site camping, food vendors, music workshops and kids’ activities, also won first place in the Virginia Living magazine’s third annual “Best of Virginia” contest as the best charity event.
