If you consider yourself a music lover, you MUST watch the new HBO series, “Foo Fighters Sonic Highways.” No seriously. Stop whatever you are doing and watch it right now. Don’t have HBO? No excuse. Order it, watch this series and then cancel your subscription. “Sonic Highways” is that good.
It doesn’t matter if you are a country, Americana, rock, pop, rap or jazz fan. This series introduces you to musicians in eight cities: Nashville, Austin, Washington, D.C., NYC, New Orleans, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle. And like the diversity of the cities and their musical roots, this series holds appeal for all types of music fans.
I don’t care if you’re not a fan of the Foo Fighters — who have won 11 Grammys (more than any other band in case you were wondering) — you will be at the end of “Sonic Highways.”
Because of my musical leanings, I particularly enjoyed the episodes featuring Nashville, Austin and Los Angeles. Would love to hear which ones you like.
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl calls the series “a musical map of America” and “a love letter to the history of American music.” I just call it “must-see” TV.
Here’s the trailer for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
